Getting a breast pump through insurance in Utah
Most health plans in Utah cover a breast pump for expecting and new moms, thanks to the Affordable Care Act. Whether you live in Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden, or St. George, The Breastfeeding Shop handles the whole process for you: we check your benefits, request the prescription from your doctor, bill your insurance directly, and ship your pump to your door.

Which pumps can you get in Utah?
Most plans cover the two standard types: manual pumps and double electric pumps. Hospital-grade pumps are usually rented rather than bought, and when a plan covers one it typically needs a prescription. Wearable pumps are often available with your benefit applied toward the cost. We carry all the major brands:
Spectra
Medela
Elvie
Zomee
Momcozy
Willow
Ameda
Ardo
Motif
Lansinoh
Evenflo
Eufy
BabyBuddha

Utah breast pump questions, answered
Which insurance plans do you accept in Utah?
We work with Molina Healthcare of Utah, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare (commercial plans), UMR, Humana, and TRICARE in Utah, plus many other plans. Start your order and we will confirm your coverage before anything is billed.
Do I need a prescription?
Yes, insurance requires a prescription from an OB/GYN, midwife, nurse practitioner, or another licensed provider. Give us your doctor’s details and we will request it for you.
When can I order my pump?
You can order any time once you have a prescription for lactation support, during pregnancy or after your baby arrives. Depending on your plan, we may not be able to ship until later in your pregnancy, and we will tell you when your pump can go out. Many moms order in the second or third trimester so the pump is ready before delivery.
