A full-power double pump that goes where you go
The Motif Luna with Battery is the same hospital-strength pump as the plug-in Luna, plus a built-in battery that Motif rates for up to 4+ hours of pumping per charge.
Pump in the nursery chair, a lactation room, or anywhere the outlet is out of reach.

Is the Luna with Battery right for you?
Best for
- Pumping at work, with no hunting for an outlet
- Moms who pump in a different room each time
- One strong main pump that also travels
- Exclusive pumping, with the freedom to move
Maybe not for
- Always pumping in the same spot by an outlet: the plug-in Motif Luna is the same pump without the battery
- No tubes at all: the Motif Aura Glow sits in your bra
What the Motif Luna with Battery adds
Motif says the battery is the only difference. The motor, settings and parts match the plug-in Luna.
- Up to 4+ hours
- About twelve 20-minute sessions on one charge, by Motif’s count.
- 2.5 hours to charge
- A full charge, Motif’s manual says. Plug it in overnight.
- Battery gauge
- An icon on the screen shows how much charge is left.
- Charge at a quarter
- Motif suggests charging at 0 to 25%; when it runs out, the pump shuts off.
- Battery warranty
- 1 year on the internal battery, beside 2 years on the motor.

Everything else is pure Luna
- Two modes
- Massage brings on let-down, then switches itself to Expression.
- Your settings, apart
- 12 suction levels, with speed set separately in each mode.
- Remembers you
- Your last settings come back at the next session.
- Closed system
- Backflow protectors keep milk out of the tubing and motor.
- Quiet
- Motif rates this model under 40 dB.
- 30-minute auto off
- It stops on its own, which also saves the battery.

Night feeds without a lamp
Carry it to the nursery, and the built-in light has three levels, so you can see your bottles while your baby sleeps. The backlit screen shows your settings and a session timer.
Each 6 oz bottle comes with a lid and a slow-flow nipple, so the milk can go straight to the fridge or to your baby.

Questions moms ask about the Luna with Battery
How much does the Motif Luna With Battery cost with insurance?
With insurance, the Motif Luna With Battery costs $0 to $155, depending on your plan. Many plans cover it in full; others add an upgrade fee. Check your coverage and we’ll tell you your exact cost before you order.
How strong is the Motif Luna with Battery suction?
Up to 280 mmHg across 12 levels, Motif says, the same motor as the plug-in Luna. The Spectra S1 and S2 list 270 mmHg.
Is the Motif Luna with Battery hospital grade?
Motif calls the Luna hospital strength, up to 280 mmHg, and says “hospital grade” means a multi-user pump, which the Luna is not. We use the same yardstick across pumps: maximum suction in mmHg, where the Luna with Battery lists 280 and the Spectra S1 and S2 list 270.
How long does the Motif Luna with Battery last on a charge, and how do I charge it?
Motif’s current rating is up to 4+ hours, or about twelve 20-minute sessions. Motif’s manual and some earlier listings say 2+ hours, so your pump’s version may vary. A full charge takes about 2.5 hours with the power adapter, which works on 100 to 240 volts. Motif doesn’t say whether you can pump while it charges, and it doesn’t name the charging port.
How do I put the Motif Luna with Battery together?
1. Snap the diaphragm into its bottom and the diaphragm top over it. 2. Push the valve onto the underside of the shield. 3. Twist the diaphragm assembly onto the shield and screw the bottle on below. 4. Connect the tubing from the diaphragm assembly to the pump, capping one air port if you pump one side. 5. Attach the power adapter and plug it in, or run it on the battery.
How do I clean the Motif Luna with Battery?
Take apart the valves, shields, bottles, nipples, disks and covers, rinse them in cool water, then wash each with a soft brush and soap or soak them 5 minutes in warm soapy water. Air dry without patting, and wipe the motor with a dry towel. Don’t wash the tubing or the diaphragms. Motif says to sterilize before first use and then daily by boiling 5 minutes, and doesn’t recommend the dishwasher because parts may warp. Never put the motor in water.
What parts does it use, and where do I buy replacements?
Motif says to replace valves every 1 to 3 months, diaphragm membranes every 3 to 6 months, shields every 6 months, and tubing as soon as it is stretched or gets wet. Motif sells replacement parts at motifmedical.com/replacement-supplies, including a resupply kit, or you can call Motif at (844) 272-8390.
Which breast shield size fits the Motif Luna with Battery?
Measure the base of your nipple in millimeters and add 4 mm, Motif says. The box has 21 and 24 mm shields, and Motif sells 16, 19, 28 and 32 mm separately. Call us if you’re between sizes.
How loud is the Motif Luna with Battery?
Under 40 dB, Motif says on its product page. Its manual lists under 45 dB.
Can I lie back while I use the Motif Luna with Battery?
Motif’s manual says to pump with the pump in an upright position, so sit up rather than lying flat.
Is it different from the regular Luna?
Only the battery. Motif says both models have the same motor and performance, the same two modes and the same parts, and they weigh just under 2 pounds. The plug-in Luna needs a wall outlet.
What is the difference between the Motif Luna with Battery and the Spectra S1?
Both are rechargeable double pumps. The Luna with Battery lists 280 mmHg and the Spectra S1 Plus lists 270 mmHg.
