The S1 Plus pump, packed with a tote and a cooler for your milk
This is the Spectra S1 Plus rechargeable pump plus Spectra’s grey tote and pink cooler kit. One bag carries the pump to work, and the cooler brings your milk home cold.
If you’ll be pumping somewhere other than home most weekdays, it’s everything you’d otherwise buy separately.

Is the S1 Plus with tote and cooler right for you?
Best for
- Pumping at work or school, then carrying milk home
- Moms with a commute who want pump, parts and laptop in one bag
- Pumping on the road, where the pump’s battery means no hunting for an outlet
Maybe not for
- Pumping mostly at home. The Spectra S1 Plus on its own is the same pump without the bags.
A tote that holds your workday
Spectra made the tote for work or travel. The pump drops in through the zip top, and the side pockets keep bottles and parts where you can reach them. Heading back soon? Read our tips for breastfeeding at work.

A cooler for the trip home
- Insulated lining
- Spectra says it keeps milk cold for extended periods with the ice pack inside.
- Reusable gel ice pack
- Sits beside the bottles, and you use it again day after day.
- Two more bottles
- Pour off a session and keep pumping into the pair on the pump.
- Fits the tote
- Zip it shut and slip it inside the bag, or carry it by its handle.
The bottles have airtight caps with a date marker and can go straight in the fridge or freezer.
The pump inside
- Runs on battery
- About 3 hours per charge, so a pumping room with no outlet is fine.
- Hospital-strength suction
- Up to 270 mmHg over 12 levels, Spectra says.
- Massage, then expression
- Start light to get milk flowing, then switch to slower, deeper pulls.
- Closed system
- Milk stays out of the tubing and the motor. Open or closed?
Bundle, pump only, or plug-in?
All three Spectras pump the same way. Choose by how far from home you pump and what you want to carry.

Questions moms ask about the S1 Plus bundle
How much does the Spectra S1 Plus with Tote and Cooler cost with insurance?
With insurance, the Spectra S1 Plus with Tote and Cooler costs $0 to $215, depending on your plan. Many plans cover it in full; others add an upgrade fee. Check your coverage and we’ll tell you your exact cost before you order.
What comes in the Spectra S1 Plus tote and cooler bundle?
The S1 Plus pump, a grey Spectra tote, a pink insulated cooler with a gel ice pack, and four wide neck bottles: two with the pump and two in the cooler. The pump kit has two 24 mm and two 28 mm flanges, tubing, duckbill valves, backflow protectors, nipples and the AC adapter.
Is it the same pump as the Spectra S1 Plus?
Yes. The pump, flanges and parts match the Spectra S1 Plus. The bundle adds the tote, the pink cooler, a gel ice pack and two extra bottles.
Does the cooler fit inside the tote?
Spectra says the pink cooler is made to fit inside the tote. The tote fits up to a 13 inch laptop or tablet, so the pump, parts and milk can travel in one bag.
How do I keep milk safe on the way home?
Pack the frozen ice pack in the cooler with the capped bottles and keep it closed. Spectra doesn’t publish how many hours the cooler stays cold. Our guide to storing breast milk covers how long milk keeps once you’re home.
How strong is the pump in the S1 Plus bundle?
Up to 270 mmHg across 12 vacuum levels, according to Spectra’s product page. Spectra’s FAQ page puts the top level at 250 mmHg, so you may see either number. Massage mode covers levels 1 to 5, expression mode all 12, and you choose the level.
Is the Spectra S1 Plus hospital grade?
Spectra calls the S1 Plus “hospital strength” for its suction, and we don’t use the term hospital grade. The manual says it is a personal-use pump for one mother and should not be shared.
How long does the battery last when I pump at work?
About 3 hours of pumping on a full charge, Spectra says, which covers a work day of several sessions with the adapter packed for a top-up. Charge it for four hours and no longer. Four bars on the screen means 3 hours and a flashing bar means about 30 minutes left.
How do I set up the pump from the bundle?
Six steps, from Spectra’s manual. 1. Put the white silicone membrane into the lower case of the backflow protector. 2. Press the upper case onto it. 3. Push a duckbill valve onto the flange. 4. Insert the backflow protector into the flange. 5. Screw a bottle onto the flange. 6. Push the tubing onto the backflow protector and its other end onto an air nozzle on the pump.
How do I clean the parts and the cooler bottles?
Wash the flanges, valves, bottles, caps and backflow protectors in warm soapy water and air dry them. Never wash the pump’s tubing. Spectra says parts can go on the dishwasher’s top rack in a closed basket, air dried with no heat dry. Boil new parts for 3 to 5 minutes before first use, and silicone parts for no more than 2 minutes.
What flange size do I need with the bundle?
It comes with 24 mm and 28 mm flanges. Measure the base of your nipple, not the areola. Up to 20 mm use 24 mm, and up to 24 mm use 28 mm. Smaller nipples need a 20 mm flange, sold separately.
When do I replace the S1 Plus parts?
If you pump exclusively, Spectra says duckbill valves every 2 to 4 weeks, backflow protectors every 2 months and flanges every 6 months. At 1 to 3 sessions a day, that’s every 3 months for valves and every 6 months for backflow protectors.
Does insurance cover the Spectra S1 Plus with tote and cooler?
Most health plans must cover a breast pump under federal rules, and we check whether your plan covers this bundle or only the pump. Start your order through insurance and we’ll tell you before anything ships if your plan covers a different pump.
Can I get a Spectra pump through insurance?
