A strong, quiet double pump for pumping at home
The Spectra S2 Plus gives you up to 270 mmHg of suction with a massage mode and an expression mode you adjust to your body. It plugs into the wall, the only thing that sets it apart from the battery-powered Spectra S1 Plus.
If most of your pumping happens near an outlet, at home or at a desk, it’s the same pump, minus a battery you may never need.

Is the Spectra S2 Plus right for you?
Best for
- Pumping at home or at a desk, close to an outlet
- Moms who like to fine-tune suction and speed for their own body
- Exclusive pumping or several sessions a day
- Night sessions, with a built-in night light
Maybe not for
- Pumping away from an outlet. The Spectra S1 Plus is the same pump with a built-in battery.
- Pumping in your bra while you move around. The eufy S2 Pro is a wearable with no tubes.
S2 Plus or S1 Plus? Only the battery is different
- The one difference
- The S1 Plus has a built-in battery. The S2 Plus runs on its power cord, so it stays where the outlet is.
- Same suction
- Both reach 270 mmHg. Spectra says the S2 Plus isn’t less powerful for having no battery.
- Same modes and settings
- Massage and expression modes, 12 suction levels, night light and timer on both.
- Same box
- Bottles, flanges in two sizes, tubing and the same 2-year pump warranty.

Two modes you set to your body
Spectra calls it Natural Nursing Technology: gentle vibration with a suckling rhythm, made to feel more like your baby.
- Massage mode
- Five levels to start your session. Spectra suggests massage first, then expression.
- Expression mode
- Switch over and keep pumping at the suction that feels right.
- Cycle and vacuum buttons
- Change speed and suction on their own, so you’re not stuck with presets.
- Single or double
- Pump one side while your baby nurses on the other, or both at once.
Ready for the 2 a.m. session
- Night light
- Built in, so you can see your bottles without turning on the lamp.
- Auto-off timer
- The screen shows your session time, and the pump shuts off at 30 minutes if you doze off.
- Quiet
- Spectra designed it for discreet sessions, next to a sleeping baby or a partner.

A closed system, so milk stays out of the tubing
- Backflow protectors
- Spectra says they keep milk from backing up into the tubing or the pump. Open or closed?
- Bottles that store
- Airtight caps with a date marker, safe in the fridge or freezer.
- Slow flow nipples
- Two in the box, so the bottle you pump into can feed your baby.
S2 Plus, S1 Plus or a wearable?
The two Spectras are one pump in two colors, one with a battery. A wearable puts the pump in your bra instead.

Questions moms ask about the Spectra S2 Plus
How much does the Spectra S2 Plus Breast Pump cost with insurance?
With insurance, the Spectra S2 Plus Breast Pump costs $0 to $65, depending on your plan. Many plans cover it in full; others add an upgrade fee. Check your coverage and we’ll tell you your exact cost before you order.
How strong is the Spectra S2 Plus suction?
Up to 270 mmHg across 12 vacuum levels, according to Spectra’s product page. Spectra’s FAQ page puts the top level at 250 mmHg, so you may see either number. Start low and raise the level until it’s comfortable. Massage mode covers levels 1 to 5, and expression mode covers all 12.
Is the Spectra S2 Plus hospital grade?
Spectra calls the S2 Plus “hospital strength” for its suction, which it lists at up to 270 mmHg. We don’t use the term hospital grade. Spectra’s manual says it is a personal-use pump for one mother and should not be shared.
Is this the same pump as the Spectra S2?
Yes. Spectra sells this pump in the US as the S2 Plus (also listed as the S2 Plus Premier), and it’s the model we ship. If your doctor or your plan calls it the Spectra S2, it’s this pump.
Does the Spectra S2 Plus have a battery?
No, it plugs into the wall with the 12V adapter in the box, which takes 100 to 240 volts. Spectra says it has the same suction, modes and settings as the S1 Plus, which adds a built-in battery. If you need to pump away from an outlet, look at the Spectra S1 Plus.
What is the difference between the Spectra S1 and S2?
The battery. The S1 Plus has a built-in battery that Spectra rates at about 3 hours, and the S2 Plus does not. Both list 270 mmHg, 12 levels and the same two modes. Spectra’s manual lists the S2 Plus at 1.18 kg and the S1 Plus at 1.33 kg.
How do I put together the Spectra S2 Plus?
Six steps, from Spectra’s manual. 1. Put the white silicone membrane into the lower case of the backflow protector. 2. Press the upper case onto it. 3. Push a duckbill valve onto the flange. 4. Insert the backflow protector into the flange. 5. Screw a bottle onto the flange. 6. Push the tubing onto the backflow protector and its other end onto an air nozzle on the pump. For one side only, keep the air cap on the other nozzle.
How do I clean the Spectra S2 Plus parts?
Wash the flanges, valves, bottles, caps and backflow protectors in warm soapy water after each use and air dry them on a clean towel. Never wash the tubing, since milk never reaches it. Spectra says the parts can go in the dishwasher on the top rack in a closed basket, air dried with no heat dry. Boil new parts for 3 to 5 minutes before first use, and silicone parts for no more than 2 minutes.
How often should I replace Spectra S2 Plus parts?
If you pump exclusively, Spectra says to replace duckbill valves every 2 to 4 weeks, backflow protectors every 2 months and flanges every 6 months. If you pump 1 to 3 times a day, that’s every 3 months for valves and every 6 months for backflow protectors. Use parts made by Spectra, which the manual says protects performance and safety.
Which flange sizes come with the Spectra S2 Plus?
Two 24 mm and two 28 mm flanges. Measure the base of your nipple, not the areola. Up to 20 mm use a 24 mm flange, and up to 24 mm use a 28 mm. Smaller nipples (16 mm and under) need a 20 mm flange, sold separately. If neither size fits, call us and we’ll help you find yours.
How loud is the Spectra S2 Plus?
Spectra’s Amazon listing gives 45 dB. Its own site and manual publish no decibel rating, and describe the motor as quiet enough for discreet sessions. The pump has a night light with two brightness levels for a dark room.
Can I use the Spectra S2 Plus lying down?
Spectra doesn’t say whether you can lean back. Its manual tells you to sit in a comfortable chair, with a pillow for your lower back if you need one, and never to use the pump while sleeping or drowsy.
Does insurance cover the Spectra S2 Plus?
Most health plans must cover a breast pump under federal rules, and we check your plan, get your doctor’s prescription and ship the S2 Plus if your plan covers it. Start your order through insurance and we’ll tell you before anything ships if your plan covers a different pump.
